    Hello Sanjiv Jee! I am in a situation that my father in law wants to give us mony about 50,000 US Dollars from India can you advise the procedure and legal remedies also. We a family of four and I recall once you mentioned he can give each one of us $13,000 as gift?

      I think anyone can gift upto 13K without filing any paperwork. You can simply write you a check.

    I have interest income in India, but the amount was small and did not require me to file a tax return in India. It is tax free. In India you need to have more than 1or 1.5 lakhs to file a tax return. My question is should I show this interest on my US income tax and will I be required to pay taxes on it here.
